McDowell Makes His Decision

McComb High School has a reputation for being a very physical football team. Perhaps the biggest, baddest kid on the McComb roster is offensive tackle Brandon McDowell. McDowell and his mean streak have found a home on the college level.

"I committed to Southeastern," said McDowell. "I did it just a little while ago. It feels good. I think I made the right choice."

Earlier today, the 6-6 sled pusher picked up the phone and made the call to end his college recruitment.

"I called the offensive line coach and told him," said McDowell. "He was real excited."

Brandon chose SLU over offers from Alcorn State, Jackson State, Nicholls State, Northwestern State and Mississippi Valley State.

In the end having the chance to play near friends and family was simply too much for the other suitors to overcome.

"It was closer to home than a lot of the other schools," said McDowell. "They have a real nice coaching staff too."
