| Rodriguez Gives Nod to Villanova | ||||

Jeremy Rodriguez is a player who we recognized early as having great potential at the next level, however because he was late on the scene in recruiting, things never really started to pick up for him until very late. This week the multi-threat athlete accepted a scholarship to play at Villanova University however. | |||

Jeremy Rodriguez has the athleticism to play linebacker, safety or running back and was being recruited at all three positions by several programs, however only one scholarship offer came through for the 6-foot-0.5, 207-pound athlete, so after his official visit to Villanova last weekend he decided to become a Wildcat. “I visited this weekend and then made my verbal commitment shortly after that stop,” Rodriguez said. “The coaches and players there were really cool and I got some time to just sit back and relax a lot with the guys there which help me feel very comfortable. I actually met my future roommate in Chris Johnson on the visit and decided that’s where I wanted to be.” “I’m excited because Villanova offers great academics and the coaching staff has also told me I’ll be playing safety for them so I can just go full speed and fly to the ball out there,” Rodriguez explained. “I didn’t want to play running back which is what Boston College was recruiting me as and others were at linebacker, so this was a nice change of pace for me. It was cool because I saw some alumni like Brian Westbrook, Kerry Kittles and Howie Long while I was there. Overall I just thought Villanova was the right place for me.” Rodriguez made 73 tackles and intercepted three passes as a senior from his linebacker position. He also broke 1000 yards rushing and added 12 touchdowns. |
