Mike Stone and the rest of his Holliston High School teammates finished the season at 9-2 this year, but because they are in an extremely competitive playoff system they did not make the playoffs despite coming in second place in their league. Recently we spoke with the Boston College commitment about his senior year and why he committed to the Eagles.

Mike Stone, a 6-foot-6, 230-pound tight end from Holliston High School in Holliston, Mass., gave a verbal commitment to Boston College several months ago, however we were never able to catch up with the two-star athlete until recently. As it turns out, Stone missed a good portion of the season due to injury, but is now fully recovered and ready to join the team this summer.

“I had written offers from New Hampshire, Northeastern and Harvard, but Boston College was my only Division I-A offer and obviously have a great football program and great academics, so I was extremely excited to get the scholarship offer from them when it came,” Stone explained. “I was also very interested in going to Harvard, but it only took me a day to accept the Boston College offer.”

“Coach (Jack) Bicknell recruited me and had been to my school several times, but when I took my official visit this past weekend I got to meet the rest of the coaching staff and built a good relationship with them,” Stone said. “They were all very nice and I liked the fact that they could be laid back with you and personable, but at the same time really get after it on the field. I love the location because it’s only 40 minutes from my home and think it will be cool because Boston is nearby and there is a lot to do there.”

Stone tore his PCL in the first quarter of his first game and did not return to the field until the sixth game of the season. He didn’t start running routes for a few weeks after that, but is now fully recovered. He did not know his statistics for his senior season.
