Morro Bay (Calif.) quarterback Logan Budd, one of the most versatile players in the Golden State, has made his college decision after taking his first official visit this weekend.
"My official visit to Cal Poly went good, and they offered me a great scholarship package," said Budd. "(Sunday) I spoke with the coaches and verbally committed to become a Mustang.
In Budd, Cal Poly gets one of the more underrated prospects in the West, and a player that can help them at a slew of positions, including defensive back or kicker.
Budd was a second team all-state selection and a second team all-SoCal pick as an all-purpose player by GoldenStatePreps.com and he was named the CIF Co-Player of the Year in 2007.
Through 12 games, Budd had 3,028 yards in total offense, going 90-for-162 for 1,668 yards passing with 16 touchdown passes and only one pick. He rushed for 1,360 yards on 189 carries and 22 touchdowns, averaging 113 yards a game. Defensively, he had nine interceptions for 179 yards and one for a score with 18 tackles.
Budd also kicked seven field goals, a long of 39, and 44 PATs and had 69 kickoffs for 3,702 yards and 24 touchbacks. He also had 30 punts for 1,208 yards, an average of 40.27.
Budd is the second player from Morro Bay to make a college committment this year, joining teammate Jerome Long, who verballed to San Diego State.
