Shaquelle Evans, the stellar receiver in the class of 2009 from Inglewood (Calif.) picked up a big offer on Monday afternoon from an out-of-state program...

Inglewood (Calif.) had a popular name in recruiting on campus on Monday.

Notre Dame head coach Charlie Weis, in Southern California for in-home visits with a host of Irish commits and recruits in the class of 2008, stopped by the campus to deliver some good news to Inglewood's elite 2009 prospect, receiver Shaquelle Evans.

"Charlie Weis was on campus today," said Inglewood assistant coach Khalid Ali. "He had a written offer for Shaq."

Evans, 6-1, 180-pounds, had previously been offered by Colorado and UNLV, but the Irish offer cements his status as one of the elite recruits nationally.

He first caught our eye last summer at the B2G Elite Football Program where he was the standout underclassmen in a strong crop of receivers (including Kemonte Bateman, Marvin Jones, Chris Polk and Clint Floyd). Evans was an all-Sparta Team member for the B2G Program.

During his junior season, Evans had 37 catches for 700 yards and six touchdowns.
