Southern Miss Head Coach Larry Fedora promised Golden Eagle supporters that he would not concede the top talent in the state to instate rivals Mississippi State and Ole Miss. Fedora is making good on his promise and then some.
Fedora has nabbed a handful of prospects from the ranks of the committed, but the biggest coup without a doubt is the verbal commitment of the state’s top player, DeAndre Brown.
Brown, who is rated five stars, received offers from around the country including such heavyweights as Florida, Alabama, Auburn and Tennessee.
In the end it boiled down to long time favorite LSU and Southern Miss.
Before a national audience moments ago, Brown made his college intentions known when he elected to stay in state and play for the home state Golden Eagles.
The impact of the standout’s decision to attend Southern Miss should prove far reaching in this signing class as his commitment may influence other prospects to join him in Hattiesburg.
