"I took my son, Bryson Rose, over to Ole Miss a couple weeks back to talk with Coach Nutt," stated Mr. Rose. "It was an unofficial visit. We think Bryson has a good chance to be the kickoff guy for Ole Miss next year."
The 6'0", 180 pound Raleigh (N.C.) native kicked 38 of his 45 kickoffs for touchbacks this past year. He won the kicking competition at the 2006 Georgia camp and 85% of kickoff attempts in 2006 were touchbacks. Rose also had field goals of 54 and 51 yards this past season on his way to being named the CAP 7 All-Conference kicker.
"East Carolina and Tennessee were also looking at him as a possible kickoff guy for next season. But his opportunity to go to Ole Miss is just too good to pass up. I spoke with Coach Nutt, and he likes him a lot. He really wants my son to be an invited walk on. I would say there is a 95 percent chance we are going to be at Ole Miss next year. We had the best meeting in our life with Coach Nutt. We are very excited."
More than just the opportunity to be the kickoff man attracted the Rose's to Ole Miss.
"We actually came down there for the Georgia game last year. It has the best game day atmosphere we have ever been around. I have taken my kid from Georgia, to Auburn, to North Carolina, to Florida, to Tennessee, you name it and we have been there. And I am telling you, none of their game day atmospheres compare to Ole Miss'. The Grove just won us over. Oxford is just a quaint place. It is special, and we can not wait to send our son down there.
Kicking coach Chris Sailer's comments
"Bryson Rose is simply a solid kicker. He is very sound sound mechanically and one of the most consistent kickers the nation has to offer. Member of the Chris Sailer Kicking "TOP 12"
