The Daily Recruiting Word

Ugh, what a weekend! Just as there wasn't much good news in the World Series for this Northern California native, it was a slow recruiting weekend as well. Things picked up Monday morning however, as Hot 100, 7-foot-3 center Shagari Alleyne announced his college commitment. Getting around him to the basket will be a tall order for Big East hoopers over the next couple of years.

HEADLINE STORY: * 7-3, 255 pound center Shagari Alleyne , the 25th ranked prospect in the nation according to Student Sports, has committed to Rutgers over Kentucky. The New York (N.Y.) Rice big man, who averaged 15 points and eight rebounds last season, had taken trips to Rutgers, Pepperdine, St. John's, Louisville and Kentucky.
