Kent (Wash.) Kentridge athlete Brandon Turner visited Annapolis this past weekend, taking an official trip to Navy.
When it was all said and done, Turner knew it was the spot for him.
"I verballed to Navy," said Turner. "They want me as a receiver."
Turner had been hearing from a handful of Northwest schools, but Navy was one of the few national programs to get involved. New Navy coach Ken Niumatalolo visited him prior to Paul Johnson leaving for Georgia Tech and when he was named the head coach, that kept Turner and Navy in the conversation.
"The future benefits, the education and the location. It's a prestigious school and the tradition. Those are all factors," said Turner.
An all-state selection and the SPSL North Defensive Back of the Year, Turner is a two-sport athlete, also playing basketball for the Chargers.
Academically, Turner is in fine shape, with a 3.1 GPA and a 1540 score on the SAT.
