After visiting UTEP last month, Perris (Calif.) Citrus Hill linebacker Jamie Irving will spend his college career with the Miners.
"I just decided this morning to commit to UTEP," said Irving.
The Miners recruited Irving along with Nevada, New Mexico and UTEP, but his trip sealed the deal.
"It was the new defense and the relationship with the players," said Irving. "And after meeting with the communications professors, I think I might change my major to that because they have a great program there and he really got me interested in it."
In Irving, the Miners are getting a solid backer who played in the SoCal Bowl, representing the Inland Empire, a fertile recruiting ground for Mike Price since he took over at UTEP.
Irving had nearly 100 tackles as a senior, helping lead Citrus Hill to an unbeaten season and the CIF-SS Divisional title.
