Dayton, Ohio offensive lineman Chris Vangas is headed to Pittsburgh to play for Walt Harris and the Panthers. Vangas was named GCL Lineman of the Year in 2002.

Dayton (Ohio) Chaminade ended its season with a 9-1 record and a big reason for their success is offensive lineman Chris Vangas.

Vangas is a Pittsburgh verbal commitment. He was named conference (GCL) lineman of the year and he was blocking for one of the premier underclassman in the Buckeye State, Javon Reiner.

“We start the play-offs this weekend against Loveland Hurst,” said the 6-foot-2, 290-pound Vangas.

“We’ve had a great year and I think we can make a run at a state championship. We have a sophomore running back (Javon Reiner) who was named conference (GCL) back of the year.

“I’m still committed to Pittsburgh. I’ll take my official visit probably the second week in January.”

Vangas is a three-year varsity starter that will play center for Walt Harris and the Panthers.
