There is an abundance of talent at the skill positions in the state of Indiana for the class of 2009. The 2008 class featured several solid linemen, but this class has some flash. One of the players you may not have heard a lot about is Demory Lawshe. | |||

If you want to know who the talented players are in a state just ask some of the players that play against them. Center Grove, Indiana quarterback Jordan Luallen raves about the talents of Indianapolis/Lawrence North wide receiver Demory Lawshe. “We beat them (Lawrence North) this year, but we didn’t have an answer for Lawshe,” Luallen said. “He must have had ten catches that game; it was like he was everywhere.” While the opposition may give glowing reports on Lawshe, you won’t find the 6-foot-2, 180-pound Junior All-State wide receiver boasting about himself. “It’s nice that another player would say good things about me,” Lawshey said. “I think I can do a few things in the open field. I really like playing the slot where I can use my speed and I think I’m athletic.” Lawshe, a speed demon (4.49) has been hearing from the likes of Illinois, Indiana, Purdue, Ball State, Toledo and Louisville. All of those schools are in close proximity to Lawshe and that is something he likes, but he will still weigh all his options. “I like being close to home,” Lawshe said. “I definitely like the thoughts of playing closer to home, but it’s still early and I have to see what is out there for me.” There are other criteria that Lawshe is looking for in school. “I’d like to be able to play by my second year,” Lawshe stated. “I want to make sure I am comfortable there with the players and coaches. I’d like to study business, so it’s important that the college would have a good business school.” Lawshe will make an unofficial trip to Louisville on April 5. As a junior, Lawshe caught 25 passes for 322 yards and three touchdowns. He had ten carries for 192 yards and two scores. For his efforts Lawhse was named First-Team Indiana Junior All-State, Second-Team All-Conference, Honorable-Mention Big School All-State and Honorable-Mention All-County.
