Kenny Bell has gotten a lot of the early hype but there is another receiver at Rayville (La.) that…
Abrecus Martinez The 2007 season was the first year Martinez (6-2 ½, 190, 4.55) played high school football but after the success he enjoyed it will not be the last. After previously focusing all of his time and energy into basketball, Martinez tried his luck on the gridiron during his junior campaign and it was a big success as he hauled in 52 passes for over 800 yards with 12 catches going for touchdowns. Chris Tolliver and Kenny Bell were the two main attractions in Bo Barton's offense but opposing coaches quickly took note of Martinez's skills. "He's not quite as fleet-footed as Chris or Kenny because those two can flat out fly but he can move," said Barton. "He's got big old mitts for hands and a great vertical. He hits his head on the bottom of rim if he doesn't watch it. He reminds me a lot of the kid from Alabama, Julio Jones, because he is a strong kid that goes up and catches the ball over the top of people." Barton said that because of all of the acrobatic grabs Martinez made as a junior he earned a nickname that got passed down by the local media. "They call him Abracadabra because he made some catches that were unreal," said Barton. "He looks like Randy Moss out there with some of his grabs. He is long and lean, and can just do it all." Barton said that coaches are inquiring about his standout receiver and asking for film but none has been sent out yet. When asked if his guy was flying under the radar, Barton replied, "He may be under the radar to some coaches but I can tell you that Les Miles knows about him and he likes him a lot. When I send out his film I think I am going to have a lot of people calling about him. I think LSU might offer soon and then some others will probably do the same."
