When he's not racking up tackles on Friday nights during the fall, Will Studlien is a standout on…
Studlien Could Decide Soon
Sunbury (Ohio) Walnut Ridge linebacker Will Studlien has tallied close to 400 tackles in the past two seasons. The scary part is he still has one season of high school eligibility remaining. The pressure will be on Studlien and his teammates to defend their state championship. Right now, however he has been focused on recruiting. Three schools have offered the 6-foot-2, 220-pound, tackling machine. Akron, Cincinnati and Illinois all threw their hat into the ring early on. Ohio State and Notre Dame have been showing interest, but neither has offered as of yet. "I was up at Illinois a few weeks ago and Coach (Ron) Zook took me into his office and offered me a scholarship," Studlien said. "I felt really good about it and I have really taken a liking to them. They have shown a lot of interest in me, especially Coach (Eric) Wolford who is recruiting me." Studlien is planning on a future trip to South Bend and recently returned from a junior day at Ohio State. "I'm planning on going up to Notre Dame in about two weeks," Studlien stated. "The Ohio State trip was alright. I didn't get a lot of one on one time or anything. They did not offer me, but they said I should be patient and not rush into anything. Coach (Darrell) Hazell and (Luke) Fickell have been by the school a few times." Studlien is unsure just how long he can be patient, because he wants to decide early. Ohio State currently has commitments from three linebackers and the top linebacker in Pennsylvania Dorian Bell is very high on the Buckeyes. "I'd like to decide early and I want to play in the Big Ten," Studlien said. "I'm weighing it all out and seeing what happens." If the Buckeye offer doesn't come, Studlien will likely have to play against his home state team. "It's funny, because we were talking about that today," he said. "It would be kind of cool to come back to Columbus and play against them." Stay tuned as we see how patient Studlien is and if the Buckeyes will end up offering another talented Ohio linebacker.
