Cheshire, Conn., product Billy Ragone has already had coaches from Yale and Dartmouth in to meet with him personally at his high school, however other programs are showing interest in him as well. While he has yet to take any visits to schools, he was able to talk a bit about some of the schools inquiring about him.
Billy Ragone
did a little bit of everything last season for Cheshire High School, playing at quarterback, wide receiver and cornerback. The 6-foot-1, 190-pound athlete projects best to the safety position at the collegiate level and is in the process of sending film out to schools right now.
“I just sent film out to
Virginia
,
Boston College
,
Purdue
,
Syracuse
and
Stanford
because they have all been in contact in some way,” Ragone said. “I plan on starting my visits during the spring and want to get out to as many schools as I can.”
“I like Boston College because they had a great year and end up in the Top 10 nationally,” Ragone stated. “They are a very good school academically and I know it’s tough to get in there because only the kids that were at the top of our class were accepted. I am definitely going to camp there this summer.”
“Stanford is another school that just has excellent academics,” Ragone explained. “I have been out to their school and the campus is absolutely beautiful. My main focus is my schooling, so an opportunity to go there would be awesome.”
As a junior, Ragone completed 29 of 59 passes for 399 yards, seven touchdowns and three interceptions. He carried the ball 124 times for 800 yards and 10 touchdowns as well and caught 21 passes for 291 yards and three touchdowns. On defense, he intercepted eight passes which he returned for 294 yards and two touchdowns. Ragone also had 21 tackles. He was named first-team All-Conference and All-League as well as being named first-team All-State by the
Hartford Courant
,
New Haven Register
and CHSCA Coaches Association.
Ragone carries a 3.6 core GPA, has a 28-inch vertical leap and benches 205 pounds.
