Some Early Interest for Leffler

Princeton, N.J., native Brian Leffler has already been getting hit hard by Ivy League schools like Yale and Princeton in recruiting, however that is not the limit of the contact he has hard thus far. We spoke to him tonight about what other schools are showing him the most interest and he talked a bit about three of those programs on an individual basis.
Brian Leffler
made the switch from Notre Dame High School to The Hun School after his sophomore year and made a big impact on the football field as a junior, making 92 tackles, 24 tackles for loss and registering nine sacks. The 6-foot-2, 220-pound linebacker/fullback also had four forced fumbles, recovered two fumble, broke up a pass and had a safety. On offense he carried the ball 41 times for 327 yards and three touchdowns.
“I camped at
Duke
last summer and am hearing from them,” Leffler said. “I am also hearing from
Pittsburgh
,
Maryland
,
Syracuse
,
Penn State
and some Ivy League schools at this point.”
“I like that Pittsburgh just brought in a really good recruiting class and look to be turning things around right now. I went to see them play on the road against
Rutgers
and they really played them tough the whole game. It went down to the wire and they didn’t leave anything on the field which I really liked.”
“Penn State is Linebacker U, so they only take the best in the country,” Leffler explained. “One of our assistants Coach Kelso was a team manager for them back in the day and still wears his Orange Bowl ring around, so we always listen to him talk about Penn State and Joe Paterno.”
“One of our tight ends Matt Furstenberg went to Maryland and to tell you the truth I can’t believe he only had one offer,” Leffler stated. “They have been recruiting New Jersey pretty hard the past few years which is a plus and Matt speaks very highly of Maryland obviously.”
Leffler was named first-team All-
Trenton Times
, first-team All-MAPL and first-team All-
Star Ledger
.
