Watkins Holding Three Offers Premium Story

Tyree Watkins was a versatile threat for Camden High School last season, playing wide receiver, quarterback and free safety. He is also an accomplished basketball player and brings a lot of athletic ability to the table on the offensive side of the ball. Currently he holds three written scholarship offers and has been hearing from a number of national programs.

Tyree Watkins has already been offered by Rutgers, Connecticut and Iowa and is hearing from plenty of other schools. The 6-foot-1, 175-pound wide receiver caught 70 balls for 900 yards and 11 touchdowns last season on offense and was also a very good player on the defensive side of the ball as well.

“Right now Iowa, Connecticut and Rutgers are the only schools that have offered, but I hear from a lot of others,” Watkins said. “Syracuse, Virginia, Northwestern, Nebraska, Pittsburgh and LSU have also all been in contact with me, among others.”

Rutgers - “I’ve liked the environment there ever since I went to the school for the first time. All of the coaches and players give off a great energy and they told me they have one of the best medical programs in the country, so that really interests me. I also like their offense a lot.”

Connecticut - “I camped at Connecticut and the new facilities were awesome. The strength and conditioning coach was great there and they have state of the art equipment, some of which I’ve never seen anywhere else. Head Coach Randy Edsall really has a vision for the future and they are definitely a program that is on the rise. I really liked the campus and new indoor facility as well.”

Iowa - “Coach Darrell Wilson recruits me and is a really nice guy. I want to go out there and visit this summer so I can learn more about the school as I don’t know much. I have definitely liked what I have seen from them on both sides of the ball on television though.”

LSU - “LSU is the school that I really want an offer from. They are definitely one of my favorite programs in the entire country. I was talking to them just a while back and am just very interested right now. They have a great fan base, great crowd support and an awesome defense.”

Watkins also made 30 tackles, broke up 15 passes, intercepted four balls and forced three fumbles last year.
