An early look at one of Arizona's top players from the 2010 class

Scout.com jumps forward to the 2010 class and does a Q & A with Goodyear (AZ) Millennium safety Marquis Flowers.

Scout.com: What were your stats/honors from last season?

Marquis Flowers: “76 tackles, 1 blocked punt, 1 blocked field goal, 1 interception, 1 fumble recovery for 47 yard TD, 2nd team all region and rookie of the year for my team.”

What is your official height and weight?
“6-3 196 lbs.”

What is your greatest football memory?
“My interception during my very first varsity game against Buckeye.”

What are your goals for the upcoming season?
“Giving 110% in order to win a state championship.”

How are you preparing for the upcoming season?
“I always train throughout the off season.”


Will you attend any camps this summer?
“I have been invited to the Badger Sport National 7 on 7 in Las Vegas. Hopefully after the Nike Combine I will be invited to the Nike Camp.”

What aspect of your game have you really worked hard to improve?
“Stamina and endurance.”

Who are some of your teammates that people need to watch out for?
“QB Mike Massey, Terry Perkins, Cash Moore, Kevin Green, Kyle Jackson and Demetrius Wilson .”

Name one teammate you really respect and why?
“I have very tall respect for all of my teammates and we are not just teammates but friends as well.”

What are your goals regarding playing football in college?
“To do well enough to be drafted into to NFL.”

Who is currently recruiting you?
Utah State has contacted the school and Wake Forest has sent a letter of interest to my house.”

Would you consider staying in state to play in college?
“YES.”

What would your top 5 college choices be?
USC, ASU, Oregon, Texas and UCLA.”

Who is the best player you ever played against? Why?
“I would say it is a tie between Jamal Miles and Mike Brown because of their ability and their love for the game.”

Name one opponent who you really respect and why?
“Jamal Miles, I have known him since I was little and I enjoy competing with him, it’s just something he and I do.”

What other sports do you play?
“Track and Field.”

What are your best max lifts in the bench, squat, power clean and 40 yard dash?
“Bench- 240, squat- 300, clean- 200 and forty- 4.53.”

What are your strengths Explosiveness and weaknesses as a player?
“Strength is my explosiveness and me weakness is coverage.”

Who is your favorite athlete and why?
Bob Sanders; despite his size he is very powerful and gets the job done.”

What is the best piece of advice you have ever received?
“From my uncle Kevin Walters, “To whom much is given, much is expected.”

Tell us what can we expect from your team this season?
“A state championship.”

What position do you think you will play in college?
“Running back.”

What can a college program expect from you as a player?
“Hard work and knowing that I will get the job done.”

What is your GPA and SAT/ACT score?
“GPA is 3.0 and I have not taken the test yet.”

What will the main factors be when you choose a school?
“Location, coaching staff, academic program and football program.”
