Nick Williams is a do-it-all athlete from Princeton, N.J., who instantly reminds many of former DePaul Catholic High School standout Chaz Cervino who is now at Syracuse University. Williams is definitely a bit stronger then Cervino was and is already garnering interest from some of the top programs on the eastern side of the country.
Nick Williams
is a 5-foot-10, 180-pound athlete from The Hun School that plays cornerback, wide receiver, running back and returns kicks right now. He claims a 4.45 40-yard dash and a 4.15 short shuttle, which combined with his impressive physique, is sure to catch the eyes of college coaches. He spoke with us recently about which schools have been contacting him the most.
“Right now I hear mostly from
Virginia
,
Purdue
,
North Carolina
,
Pittsburgh
,
Penn State
,
Boston College
,
Maryland
,
Rutgers
,
Syracuse
and
Michigan State
,” Williams explained. “All of them have been by my school except for Purdue. I really like Boston College and Virginia right now because of the combination of how good they are academically and where their football programs are at.”
“Both the head coach (
Mark Dantonio
) and the defensive coordinator (
Pat Narduzzi
) from Michigan State were in to see me recently,” Williams stated. “They were both very cool in the short time we got to talk and spoke a lot about their vision of where the Michigan State program is headed. They are a school that has a good tradition and I did watch their bowl game and think they have a good team.”
“Head Coach
Greg Robinson
from Syracuse also came in and talked to all four of us about how he is turning the program around,” Williams said. “He told us he wants high-character kids that play with a lot of heart and told me I remind him of
Chaz Cervino
which I get a lot. I know that
Donovan McNabb
played there and that they’re getting new facilities and play in a dome. Coach Robinson was a really cool guy and really seemed like a good man.”
As a junior, he made 42 tackles, seven tackles for loss, had eight pass breakups, seven interceptions, forced two fumbles and recovered two fumbles. He had 739 total offensive yards and six touchdowns. He also had 531 total return yards and scored three times.
Williams was named first-team All-State at defensive back by the
Star Ledger
for his sophomore and junior years, first-team by the
Trenton Times
at wide receiver and defensive back in both years and first-team All Mid-Athletic Prep in both years.
He runs a 4.15 short shuttle, can bench press 325 pounds and squats 375 pounds. He has an 88-percent average GPA.
