Talks Visits & Latest Offer
Ryan Cheek of Lancaster High School (Lancaster, Ohio) is a prospect that continues to see interest grow. Picking up an offer from the University of Cincinnati first the 6-foot-1, 225-pound middle linebacker prospect has now been offered by Maryland."Maryland called my coach today and when I called them back tonight they told me they were offering me a scholarship there."For Cheek the past week is going fast as he picked up the Cincinnati offer and made a visit to Michigan State last weekend."I went to Michigan State for their Junior Day and really liked everything I saw. Coach Dantonio told me that he's not watched my film yet but he would and they would be getting back with me."For Cheek this is not the first time he's talked with the Spartans head coach."I went to camp at Cincinnati when Coach Dantonio was the head coach the summer between my freshman and sophomore seasons," Cheek explained. "My high school coach has known Coach Dantonio for a long time as both of his sons played for him at Ohio State and Cincinnati (Bobby Carpenter – Ohio State, Jonathan Carpenter – Cincinnati). I also went to camp at Michigan State this past summer and really liked it."What else did Cheek take away from his Michigan State visit?"I really like the facilities and campus and feel they have a great coaching staff at Michigan State. It's a school I'd seriously consider if they offer me."But while his visit at Michigan State was enjoyable it's not the last one on his list."We're going to try and get to Northwestern on Friday for a visit and then I'll be at Purdue on Saturday and Cincinnati on Sunday for Junior Days. I don't know a lot about Purdue and look forward to learn more about Cincinnati."Cheek as stated above camped at Cincinnati when it was under Mark Dantonio. What does he know about the current coaching staff at the University of Cincinnati."I really liked what I saw from Cincinnati when I camped there a few years ago. I went to a game this past fall when they played Marshall and could see they are a program getting better under Coach Kelly. I'm very excited about being offered by them and see Coach Kelly continuing to make the program one of the top programs in the country."Scout.com will follow up with Ryan after his busy weekend to get the latest on the programs he visited.
