Tennessee TE Garnering Interest
Daniel Hood reports a lot of interest from a variety of schools, "Right now I am receiving a lot of mail from Tennessee, a few from Auburn, Colorado, Rutgers, Nebraska and Louisville. I hope to hear from North Carolina soon." Hood spoke about a few of the schools he has either been very familiar with or has learned about during the recruiting process. Tennessee: "I'm a homegrown kid, and I've always watched Tennessee on the weekends. I've just love the program they have and the tradition they have." Auburn: "The campus is really outstanding. They also have really good academic programs too. It's more of an isolated school, and it seems like you would get to know everybody on campus well. Everybody in that town really loves football." Colorado: "I've never seen their campus. To me it seems like a great place to live and to play because it's one of the only places you can go snow ski one day and water ski another day. It would be a nice little change of scenery too." Hood stressed the importance of academics in choosing a school, "The main factors would be like what kind of education will I get. I want to find a place that really wants me to play football, but wants me to graduate too." Hood commented on his strengths, "I think one of my strengths every play, every down I'm going to go 100-percent no matter what. I'm trying my best to beat the guy in front of me. It's a one-on-one battle between me and him, and I like to win." "I played offensive tackle last year, and this year I will be a tight end." The move helps to showcase his athleticism, and Hood commented on the new position, "I'm really excited about it. I tried to get my coach to let me play tight end last year, but he needed me on the offensive line. Our team is more important than I am." The nature of recruiting is obviously important to Hood, but so is the success of his program and their season. Coach Mark Pemberton is hoping Hood is able to lead the Irish this season as well. "I expect us to win," Hood said. "I think we will go into every game with our mind set that we need to win." Daniel Hood is a prospect in the Knoxville area with a growing amount of interest. He will attend Junior Day at Tennessee and is waiting to see how other schools continue to pursue him.
