Center Grove (Ind.) quarterback Jordan Luallen is a very good high school quarterback, but don’t expect him to be the one to tell you about it. He is very humble and would rather talk about his teammates or other players around the state. The 6-foot-3, 205-pound, signal caller completed 52 of 75 passes for 740 yards and 13 touchdowns, while throwing no interceptions. He also ran for 465 yards and 13 touchdowns on 65 carries.
Luallen currently holds offers from Iowa, Indiana, Purdue, Stanford and Georgia Tech. He took the time to talk about the schools that have offered.
Indiana: “That offer was very special for me, because it’s an in-state school. They feel that I am good enough to offer me and that is an honor.”
Iowa: “That was a surprise offer. It really came out of nowhere. Coach (Eric) Johnson said they saw the film of me and they were offering me.”
Georgia Tech: “Well I mean it is a really intriguing offer for me in the fact that coach (Paul) Johnson is now there from Navy and the fact that it is in Atlanta which is really close to a lot of my family and where my dad does most of his business. Also, I can get a great education at Tech. It is truly an honor and I thank god for giving me this opportunity.”
Stanford: “What do you say? It is Stanford. It is a great academic school and one that I am definitely interested in for sure.”
Luallen has also been hearing from Georgia, Illinois, Kentucky, Cincinnati and Ohio State. Georgia is one of Luallen’s favorites and he admits it would be tough to say no to the Dawg’s.
“I have two cousins who played at Brookwood and during the winter of my freshmen year I was down there and I threw for the coach,” Luallen explained. “The coach then told coach (Mike) Bobo about me and he invited me to camp down there before my sophomore season. Bobo came up here about three weeks ago and he told me they are looking to take two quarterbacks. They want one pro-style and one-dual threat. They want to see me throw in person this year. So we’ve basically been keeping in touch for three years.”
Ironically, Luallen and Zach Mettenburger the first of the two quarterbacks that Georgia is searching for have become great friends. The two had the chance to compete against each other at the U. S. Army All-American Bowl in San Antonio, Texas.
“We’re pretty good friends and he just committed there a few weeks ago,” Luallen stated. “We’ve competed before, it’s a friendly thing. I’m proud of what he has achieved, but it doesn’t scare me at all.”
As much as Luallen likes Georgia, he feels that the lord will lead him wherever he feels he needs to be and that is what Luallen plans to do is follow his faith.
“I really like the staff at Georgia,” he said. “I like what they do and their Christian background. I am trying to remain open. God has a plan for me and he’ll show me the path. I hope that Georgia is a part of his plan. It would be hard to turn them down if they were to offer.”
Luallen is planning on attending a junior day at Cincinnati this weekend.
