Scout.com is teaming up with New Level Athletics to put together a National 7-on-7 tournament with top players from all over the nation. The South Florida team, made up of many of the top players in that part of the state, got together on Sunday for its first workout and Scout.com was there for all the action.

The Scout.com National 7-on-7 Tournament will take place on Sunday, March 30 at the University of South Florida in Tampa. Many of the top prospects from all over the South will be there and the Florida teams are starting to come together.

One of those teams will be a South Florida group, put together by head coach Brett Goetz.

"We're in this for the kids and they are our main priority," Goetz said. "It's all about them and putting together an event like this is great. We have a lot of good players from this area and we know Scout.com will do a great job of promoting them. We're very excited about the event and we're looking forward to competing in the tournament later this month."

The South Florida Team (sponsored by Sports University) got together on Sunday for its first workout in preparation for the March 30 event and many of the area's top prospects were there.

They are led by four-star quarterback Eugene Smith, who is considered by many to be the state's top quarterback prospect. He already has offers from several major college programs.

"It is great to be on the same team with so many great players,” Smith said of this South Florida unit. “It helps you evaluate how you stack up with other top players.”

Leading the way at running back is Jaamal Berry, who will likely be a four-star running back recruit from Miami Palmetto High. As Scout.com reported over the weekend, Berry already has offers from schools like Florida State and Florida. Berry is excited about this opportunity.

"This is gonna be great," Berry said. "To have the chance to play with all these great players and to compete with some of the best players from around the country will give us a chance to showcase ourselves."

Other top notch offensive players for this South Florida team include Brandon Doughty, one of the top 2010 prospects in the state, from North Broward Prep, Stedman Bailey from Miramar, and Jason Douglas from Cypress Bay.

The defense is loaded with quality players as well and they're led by a group of linebackers from Cypress Bay, including Shane Gordon.

“It is great to play with so many talented players,” said Gordon. “South Florida has some of the best talent out there and I think we will show that in the tournament.”

Four-star prospects Brandon McGee and Ricardo Dixon lead what will be an excellent secondary.

"We're loaded with players," McGee said. "This is gonna be so much fun. I can't wait. The competition will be great."

This South Florida team will be one of three or four from the state and they will compete against each other and against several other teams from other states, including Texas, at this event. There will certainly be a lot of talent on the field that day and Scout.com will be there to bring you all the action.
