Anthony Steen talks about Alabama Jr Day

The 6' 4", 290 pound lineman out of Clarksdale woke up Monday with some good news.

"I called Coach Saban this morning," added Anthony Steen. "He had a lot of the coaches on the phone. Coach Saban told me that I had a full scholarship to play for Alabama. He asked me which way I preferred to play, offense or defense. I told him that I would like to play both ways, and he said they liked me both ways too. They are just going to play it by ear."

What did Anthony say back to the scholarship offer?

"I told them I was real happy they gave me a scholarship and happy with what I saw at Jr Day on Saturday. He told me to keep in touch with them and to come seem them in the Spring game."

How did the trip to Alabama's Jr Day go?

"We showed up around 10:00 am and they showed us around the weight room. They said they had the biggest weight room in the nation. They told me they were looking for some offensive linemen to replace the three starters they are losing this year. And then the DL coach told me that he was going to be fighting for me to play on his side of the ball. They really like me both ways. After that, they took us around the campus and dorms. Their dorms are real nice. I liked what I saw."

Where there anymore players from MS in attendance?

"Some punter from Jackson Aca was there. That is all that I saw."

Southern Mississippi offered Anthony in February, but they were holding their Jr Day on the same day, so he was not able to make it.

Are there anymore colleges showing a lot of interest right now?

"Mainly just the ones who offered me, but I did talk with an Ole Miss coach last week. FSU called my coach, and I was suppose to call him back but I have not had a chance yet. And Miami called me again this past week. They have been calling a bunch."

What did Miami say?

"They want me to come play for them as well. They want me to come down there on a trip this Spring. They liked my video that is up on Scout.com. Coach Punn just thinks I have what it takes to compete at Miami."

What about FSU?

"He wanted me to call him back, but like I said, I have not had a chance yet. He asked if I was a country boy (laugh) and asked if I liked to hunt and fish. He seemed like a nice guy. They want me to come down there for their camp."

Coach Nix from Ole Miss had a few things to say.

"He wants me to come over there on April 29th. He wants me to sit down and talk and see where I stand with them. I have to go visit them to see if they are going to offer me."
