Pearson Taking Visits

Sean Pearson is a name to be watched in the Class of 2009 and has already visited four schools over the past several weeks. At his size he could play either offensive tackle or guard at the next level, however he believes he will end up on the interior line. We went over each visit with him on Wednesday to get an idea what he thinks about the schools showing him interest right now.

Sean Pearson, a 6-foot-5, 290-pound offensive guard from St. Peter’s Prep in Jersey City, N.J., has already taken visits to Pittsburgh, Rutgers and Syracuse and has plans to go to Penn State and West Virginia over the new few weeks for junior days. Iowa, Boston College and Maryland will be spring practice destinations and with the amount of attention Pearson is receiving more could be lined up as well.

“My visit to Pitt went really well,” Pearson stated. “Academically they have a lot to offer and from what we were told the amount of support given to student-athletes is very good. All of the people there were very welcoming and they really have a family atmosphere out there. I talked to Coach (Jeff) Hafley and Coach (Tony) Wise who were both good guys. I talk to Coach Wise a lot through email and will be going back out there in the spring.”

“I liked it a lot at Rutgers and there was nothing negative about the trip to speak of at all,” Pearson said. “Head Coach Greg Schiano was pretty cool and they definitely had the nicest facilities I’ve seen so far. Rutgers is close to home which is nice and like I said, I really like everything about them.”

“I was sick when I visited Syracuse, so it was a rough trip unfortunately. I talked to a few coaches, but I want to go back up again and meet with them because I could barely talk my throat was so sore. The weight room and strength and conditioning program was great and they have a great communications department and solid business school, so that piqued my interest given that I’d like to major in one of those two fields.”

“I’m going to Penn State for junior day and like them a lot,” Pearson explained. “I grew up a Penn State fan and loved Levi Brown. I used to watch every single Penn State game just to watch him. They are good academically, but I don’t know a whole lot about the school past their football program, so I want to go check them out.”

Pearson has a max bench of 250 pounds, a max squat of 405 pounds, reports a 79-percent core GPA and scored a 1540 on his three-part PSAT.
