As we approach the end of the signing period for the class of 2008, it's time to unleash the newest set of rankings for the class of 2009. This class does not appear to be as deep as it has been in previous years, but there is still plenty of talent to go around.

For the time being the top spot in the East goes to Chesapeake (Va.) Great Bridge wide receiver Logan Heastie. The talented athlete holds over 30 scholarship offers from the likes of Florida, Tennessee, USC, Alabama, West Virginia among others. Heastie narrowly beat out Dorian Bell for the top spot.

Bell, a native of Monroeville (Pa.) has been a stalwart in the Gators defense the past few years and is capable of playing all three linebacker positions. When Terry Smith tells us that Bell is the best athlete that he has ever had at gateway, that is saying something. Bell has over 40 scholarship offers from the likes of LSU, Alabama, Ohio State, Notre Dame, Penn State and many more.

West Scranton (Pa.) offensive tackle Eric Shrive stands out in more ways than one. His 6-foot-7 and 288-pound frame has attracted college coaches from coast-to-coast. Shrive is a nasty blocker who is surprisingly nimble for his size.

Only six members of the East Top 100 have committed to a school so far with Virginia having two Caleb Porzel (Wheaton/Md./Good Counsel) and Domonique Wallace (Fredricksburg/Va./Chancellor). Syracuse stunned a lot of people when they landed the top two players in the state of New York, but that may be hard to repeat this year if Trinity-Pawling standout Shayne Skov maintains the top spot, as he has already pledged his services to Stanford.
