The 2008 Meridian Wildcats may be as talented as any team that has come through the MHS program in several years. One of the top defensive play makers for the 'Cats is cornerback Khairi Usher. Khairi's open field tackling ability and cover skills has attracted the attention of several college recruiters. | |||

Khairi Usher profile "I am hearing from Auburn, Mississippi State, Ole Miss, Stanford and Army," said Usher. "I went to Auburn and Mississippi State for their junior days. Both of them are showing me a lot of attention." Khairi's first trip was to visit the Auburn Tigers. The talented corner got to take in an Auburn practice during his unofficial visit. "Auburn was really nice," said Khairi. "I got to talk to Coach Dunn a little bit while I was there. We got to see them practice. I liked it. It was a short practice, but they got out there and did what they needed to do. They really have some good coaches there." Khairi and several teammates recently took the short trip to Starkville, Mississippi for the Bulldogs' junior day. "They treated us real good at Mississippi State," said Usher. "They made us feel at home. They let you know that you have to have your mind right when you come there because Coach Croom is not going to put up with no mess. I got to see them scrimmage and I liked how their coaches coach." After taking the guided tour and getting a chance for some face time with the coaches at each school, Usher thinks both programs may eventually offer. "I think both of them may offer," said Kkairi. "Auburn said they really liked my highlight tape and they want to see me more. Mississippi State is talking about offering. I was told that I may be getting an offer from them pretty soon, but it's still kind of up in the air." |
