Scout.com chats with Desert Ridge CB Chris Jamison who looks to be one of the top defensive back prospects in Arizona’s class of 2009. Scout.com: What were your stats/honors from last season? Jamison: “4 interceptions, 4 kick returns and was named 1st team all region CB and 2 team return.” What is your official height and weight? “5-7 160 lbs.” What is your greatest football memory? “When my team beat pinnacle in overtime.” What are your goals for the upcoming season? “My goals are to have 6 interceptions and 6 kicks returned for TDs.” How are you preparing for the upcoming season? Will you attend any camps this summer? “I’m lifting hard and gaining weight.” What aspect of your game have you really worked hard to improve? What area would you like to keep improving on? “My quickness, work ethic and speed. Breaking on the ball.” Who are some of your teammates that people need to watch out for? “The Desert Ridge program because we’re coming.”
Name one teammate you really respect and why? “Kevin Ashak because he’s a good team leader and he’s my left tackle.” What are your goals regarding playing football in college? “To become a starter.” Who is currently recruiting you? Do you have any offers yet? “I don’t know and no offers yet.” Would you consider staying in state to play in college? “Yes.” What would your top 5 college choices be? “ASU, Washington, NAU, Oregon and Montana.” Who is the best player you ever played against? Why? “Jarrell Barbour because he’s big, physical and fast.” What other sports do you play? “Track.” What are your best max lifts in the bench, squat, power clean and 40 yard dash? “Bench- 230, squat- 315, power clean- 225 and 40 yard dash- 4.44.” How do you think your coach would describe you as a player? “Probably the leader of the team.” What are your strengths and weaknesses as a player? “Quickness, work ethic and speed.” Who is your favorite athlete and why? “#35 Kevin Dockery CB 5-8, 188lbs for the NY Giants. Because he didn’t let his size stop him.” What is the best piece of advice you have ever received? “Not to change who I am and to stay humble.” Tell us what can we expect from your team this season? “A big improvement from last year.” What position do you think you will play in college? “CB, return man or scat back.” What can a college program expect from you as a player? “To be a leader.” What is your GPA and SAT/ACT score? “2.6.” What will the main factors be when you choose a school? “A school that has a great medical program. I would like to stay close to home. A school that has some tradition and I would like to be an impact player.” |
