EAST NOTES * LeRoy (N.Y.) garnered its 500th victory in program history with a 49-0 win over Avon (N.Y.) in the Section V Class C playoffs. LeRoy started football in 1897. * Robinson (Va.), the defending Division 6 state champion, benched 14 players for breaking undisclosed rules, but managed to defeat West Potomac, 23-13. West Potomac was figured to give even a full-strengthed Robinson a run. "The story of this game was the amount of resolve and heart this team has," Robinson coach Mark Bendorf told The Washington Post. "With the odds stacked against us, we pulled it out. ... It's going to take a lot more for this team to surrender." * A week ago, Perry (Pa.) became the first team in Pennsylvania to not allow a point during regular-season play in 43 years -- and no that streak lives on in the postseason. Perry defeated Schenley, 54-0, last week.
