Tim Simon Adds SEC Offers
"I have offers from Alabama, Auburn, Kentucky, Mississippi State and UAB," Tim Simon said. "I received the offers from Alabama and Auburn about two weeks ago. I think a few other schools are close to offering. Nebraska is showing a lot of interest. There are a lot of teams showing interest." "The only school I have visited is Alabama. I went down to Alabama about two weeks ago for Junior Day. I am going to Auburn for their A-Day game, and I am going to Ole Miss sometime as well." Simon shared additional insight of his unofficial visit to Tuscaloosa. "The visit went real good," he said. "We toured the campus. They showed the locker room and everything like that. They talked to us about academics." "I talked to all the coaches. They were telling me about things I would do and positions I would play. They took me to the running backs room." "It's real nice down there at Alabama. People are real friendly. I can't judge them yet because they are the only school I have visited." The 6-foot-1, 210-pound running back/linebacker has plenty of options early in the recruiting process. Listing favorites and knowing a time-frame for a decision has not entered his thought process. "I don't have any favorites right now," Simon said. "I don't even have a top five. I want to visit some schools and see what I like about them. I have never thought about when I will make my decision." Simon has at least one important factor on the list as he visits the various schools looking for the right fit. "I am looking for a team who runs the ball a good bit," he said. "I don't want to do a lot of pass blocking. That is one of my weak points." Tim Simon Simon rushed for 1,566 yards on 176 carries and 33 touchdowns during his junior season. He was honored with The Birmingham News 2007 Super All-Metro Team, ASWA Super 12 at running back and All-State 3A first team running back. "I am working on trying to get bigger," he said. "I am 210-pounds right now. I would like to get up to 215-pounds or 220-pounds. I feel like my biggest strengths are running the ball and playing linebacker. I love to hit. I am trying to improve my strength and speed."
