Marlon Brown profile Marlon excels in both football and basketball on the high school level and the chance to continue to playing on both the girdiron and the hardwood is important to the talented Brown. "I am very committed to playing both sports," said Marlon. "If I can't do it then so be it, but I really want to play both in college if I can." Brown has addressed the possibility of becoming a two-sport athlete on the college level with the schools that are recruiting him. "Most of the coaches have told me that they like the idea and that I could do it. Some others just didn't say anything, so I guess they are okay with it," said Marlon. "USC, Florida, Tennessee, Kentucky, Clemson and Illinois all say I can play both." College basketball coaches would certainly benefit from having a non-scholarship player on the roster with Brown's ability. "I averaged 16 points and 10 rebounds per game," said Marlon. "We went 22-10 and we won state. I was the MVP of the state championship game. It was a great feeling to win state because we had such a hard road to get there." Marlon, who grew up favoring Tennessee, says that when decision time comes he will seek the advice of those he feels has his best interest at heart. "When I make my decision, I am going to sit down with my family, my football coach and my basketball coach and look at things," said Brown. "A lot of people around here want me to go to Tennessee, but it's still open. I am looking at everybody right now." |
