Safety Matt Tucker from Aurora (Co.) Grandview High School became Arizona State's first commitment of the 2009 recruiting class when he committed to Coach Erickson today on an unofficial visit. He tells Scout.com, "I committed to Arizona State today to Coach Erickson. I liked the environment and the coaches and how they really wanted me." This was Tucker's first offer and he was extended it today. "I was offered and we went to a few meetings and I decided to commit." As for being the first commitment of the 2009 class, Tucker (6-3 190) describes it as "wild". Other schools that were in for his servcies were Wisconsin, Arkansas and Wyoming although none had offered. Tucker told Scout.com that he and his father had talked about committing if the staff offered on the visit, so it came as no surprise that he pulled the trigger today. Matt recorded 82 tackles and 5 INts for the 5A state champs last year. He says he is undecided on his major but is considering business. He maintains a 2.5 GPA and has taken the SAT but not received the scores back yet. |
