Eufaula LB Reels in Offer
"Central Florida offered me Wednesday," Javen Harris informed Scout.com. "It was my first offer. It was real cool. Coach [Geoff] Collins who was at Alabama went to Central Florida. He has been staying in contact with me." "He has told me for a while he really likes me. Once you have the first offer more will start to roll in. I like Central Florida. I am going down there for a visit April 5. I really like their location." Harris is receiving heavy interest from Alabama, Auburn, LSU, Ole Miss and Mississippi State. He has attended Junior Day at Alabama and Auburn. "Alabama was the first Junior Day I attended," he said. "It was back in February. The visit went great. I spoke to coach [Kirby] Smart while I was there. He has kept in touch with me since they recruited Courtney Upshaw." "The Alabama coaches said they really like me. They are recruiting me to play middle linebacker. The thing I like about Alabama is their tradition." "The visit to Auburn went great. I have known coach [James] Willis for a long time. We have stayed in close contact. He told me to keep doing what I am doing and I will probably receive an offer from them." "I like the new offense they are putting in at Auburn and their defense. They fight to the ball. We play the same defense they do. It would be easy to adjust." The 6-foot-1, 225-pound prospect recorded 95 tackles, four sacks and two interceptions during his junior season. "My biggest strength is my knowledge of the game," Harris said. "I know my position and other positions. I help my teammates do their jobs. Right now I am trying to work on my speed. I run a 4.6-40 [yard dash]." Harris has the attention of numerous schools and will keep an open mind with expectations of more options available as the year progresses. He knows the factors which will determine his college choice. "I don't have any favorites," Harris said. "It's wide open right now. I grew up in Alabama, but didn't grow up a fan of any particular school. I just loved watching football. I plan to wait a while before I make my decision. "My coach told me I should be getting a lot more offers. The first thing I am looking for is academics and the coaching staff. I want to see the tradition the school has as well."
