Wolfe Looking to Stay Close to Home

Vernon Wolfe was one of the top college prospects in the Jackson, Mississippi metro area during his time at Vicksburg High School. Circumstances led Wolfe to Hinds Community College where he has worked hard to refine his game.

"When I was in high school, it all started when a lot of schools started writing me," said Wolfe. "I had a lot of schools showing me interest, but nobody offered me in the end."

Vernon took his play making ability just down the interstate to Hinds where he had 24 catches for 324 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Wolfe was one of the most productive freshmen in the Mississippi JuCo ranks.

"I had the chance to make some plays," explained Vernon. "I just tried to take advantage of what the defense gave me."

Wolfe will be signing with a four year school this time around and he hopes he gets the chance to spend his final college years representing his home state.

"I would really like to stay in state," said Vernon. "I like all of the in-state schools, but I am more of a Mississippi State fan. I hope I get an offer from them."

The talented wide-out believes the work he does off of the field gives him a competitive edge on the field.

"I am just in love with the game of football," said Wolfe. "I study film and I take it all real serious. I watch a lot of games and I have been to a lot of camps. I am always trying to learn something new."
