In a recent conversation with Houston Lamar running back Kalvin Guyton, he told TexasPrepInsider…
Guyton Playing the Waiting Game
Even though he already holds two offers, Houston Lamar (TX) running Kalvin Guyton is waiting patiently to see what schools will come through next. He already has a good idea about what school or schools may offer him soon. "I am waiting to see if Arizona and UCLA are going to offer me," the 5-foot-9, 195-pound Guyton said. Besides this interest, Guyton already holds offers from Houston and Minnesota. There are a few other schools like Texas A&M and LSU that are actively recruiting him as well, but with Guyton there are no favorites. At the moment, Guyton is focusing on the present right now, which includes track season and school. "I don't really have a particular school in mind that jumps out to me," Guyton said. "Right now my mind is on school and track. I'll concentrate on this (recruiting) more after the school year." And while school TAKS test and track season are the current priorities, he does plan to make a few off-season appearances. And the in-state school is one that is for sure on the schedule. I can't do much with track season going on, but I do plan to see the (Texas) A&M spring game," Guyton said. "I hope to make Minnesota's as well because I was invited to go there. Of the schools listed, Guyton feels like UCLA could be the next to put a name in the hat. He said both UCLA and Arizona are recruiting him the hardest, but Texas A&M does keep pretty consistent correspondence with him. But with UCLA, he somewhat has a connection. "They (UCLA) don't call me a lot, but they call my coach quite a bit," Guyton said. "I look forward to them offering me here soon. " Guyton finished the season with 817 rushing yards and 14 touchdowns. He also had two receiving touchdowns as well.
