“Everything has been going great,” said Eltoro Freeman. “I had a great year at Mississippi Gulf Coast. I helped us win the national championship, and I have done very well in the classroom. I have 3.64 GPA, and I made the Dean’s List.”
“I am starting to get a lot of interest from schools across the country. Texas, South Florida, Miami and Ole Miss have all been in contact with my coach. Right now I plan to graduate in December. I won’t play football this fall. As of now, it’s Auburn all the way.”
“I have kept in contact with coach [James] Willis. I spoke to him about a month ago. He came to see me. He told me he saw my highlight tape and was very impressed with what I did my first year.”
“He told me they are really looking forward to me getting to Auburn. He told me they were still saving my No. 21 jersey."
The former Benjamin Russell standout is receiving heavy interest from several, but he expects to stick with the original plan.
"I gave Auburn my word I was coming back," he said. "They have always tried to help me. The school is close to home, and my family is big Auburn fans. I fell in love with the coaching staff. Coach Willis have been like a father to me.”
“The Auburn coaches have told me they want me to play the 'Will' linebacker spot for them. Right now I am 6-foot, 218-pounds. I am trying to get bigger.”
Freeman has a year behind him, and it appears the experience has been beneficial especially for the Auburn Tigers.
“I felt like I have became a smarter football player," he said. "There is a lot. I have a better knowledge of the game."
