Camps are great for two things, one is seeing the prospects that you like on film in person. The second is when you see someone that you haven’t seen before show up and impress everyone and put himself in the spotlight.
Paulsboro (N.J.) safety/linebacker Gerald Hodges started impressing everyone as soon as he walked in the door at the Holiday Inn. At a chiseled, 6-foot-3, 210-pounds, Hodges had everyone doing a double take. We all assumed he was a linebacker, but he told us he was a safety that ran a (4.5) our first reaction, was no son, you’re a will linebacker.
Hodges was then out to prove to everyone that despite his size, he was athletic enough to play safety. The first game out, Hodges picked off a pass and ran it 35-yards to the house. He has picked up a handful of offers from the likes of Penn State, Rutgers, Syracuse, Maryland and Iowa, but we fully expect more to come his way as soon as more schools begin finding out about him.
