47 Commit to Play in UA All-Star Game

47 prospects have committed to play in the Under Armour All-America Game, including the nation's top prospect, quarterback Matt Barkley.

Here we are, a mere eight weeks since National Signing Day (2008) and already the Under Armour All-America Game has commitments from nearly four dozen big time prospects. This is no April Fools joke, as 47 elite players from all over the nation announced their intentions to play in this game on January 4, 2009.

Headlining this group is quarterback Matt Barkley (Mater Dei, Calif.), the Scout.com No. 1 ranked player in the nation among the Class of 2009. Barkley, 6-3 and 222 pounds, was the Gatorade National Player of the Year as a junior, after throwing for over 3,500 yards and 35 touchdown passes. Barkley has committed to play at USC.

In addition to Barkley, quarterback Russell Shepard (Houston, Texas), wide receiver Logan Heastie (Chesapeake, Va.), cornerback Dre Kirkpatrick (Gadsden, Ala.), wide receiver Marlon Brown and linebacker Manti Te'o are all members of the Scout.com National Top 10 that have agreed to play in this game. In fact, 20 members of the Scout.com National Top 100 will play in this all-star game (Craig Loston, Vontaze Burfict, Andre DuBose, Washuan Ealey, Melvin Fellows, Ryne Giddens, Garrett Gilbert, Darrell Givens, Kevin Graf, Devonte Holloman, Morrell Presley, Kendall Kelly, John Martinez, Jacobbi McDaniel, and Sam Montgomery).

The Under Armour All-America Game will be played on ESPN at 8 p.m.
