"I'm just gonna try and visit as many schools as I can," Ryan Mossakowski said. "I'm just looking for that certain feeling from a school. It needs to feel like it fits. It can be a huge city or a small town. That doesn't matter to me. I want a program with great tradition and have chemistry with all the coaches. They need to be like family and be like a home away from home..." | |||

Ryan Mossakowski, the 6-foot-4, 203 pound three-star quarterback from Centennial High School in Frisco, Texas, finished his junior season (1-9) with 3,029 yards passing, 19 touchdowns and 13 interceptions. He completed 264 of 462 passes (57 percent) and also gained 227 yards on 71 rushes for seven additional scores. "I have to say I've got great vision and great core base mechanics," Mossakowski said. "I see the field well and I'm a playmaker. I'm a big passer and we play a run-and-shoot offense, so I'm always making big plays. I control the offense really well and I have awesome mechanics." Mossakowski says he'd like to improve his footwork, movement and strength. "I'm working on my footwork and trying to get my forty speed better. I run a 4.8 now," he said. "Also I'd like to make quicker decisions and study the defenses more." He says he benches only 185 pounds. Mossakowski is ranked as the No. 17 quarterback in the country by Scout.com and has offers from Texas A&M, Auburn, Nebraska, Kansas and Arizona. Although he denies a leader, Mossakowski favors A&M, Auburn, Oklahoma, Kansas and Nebraska. Only the Sooners haven't offered. "A&M is only three and half hours away, but that's not a factor at all," he said. "I like a lot about them. It's a small town and the fans are crazy there. All the coaches are great and easy going. I sat down with (head) coach Mike Sherman and he has a phenomenal background and has amazing knowledge of the game. "I just felt really comfortable around all of them," he said. "I can see them doing well next season. Coach Sherman has been successful at the NFL level and I'm sure he'll be successful in college as well." He says he might attend the Aggies camp in July. He already has a camp scheduled for Auburn on June 14 and Clemson on June 9. Beside A&M, the only other school he's already visited is Auburn. "Auburn was awesome," he said. "It's another small, big town. It's really beautiful down there and I loved the stadium. We went to their spring game and they had like 35,000 people from all over the state show up. People were in RVs and it was like a real game day atmosphere. It was great. "I also know (offensive coordinator) coach Tony Franklin pretty well," he said. "He coached at Troy State during my freshman year and we went to a team camp there and that's how I met him. We have a good relationship already." In addition to the summer camps Mossakowski is planning to attend, he also has a busy April ahead of him. On April 5 he's attending a scrimmage at Oklahoma. "The quarterbacks at Oklahoma are always awesome," he said. "Coach (assistant quarterbacks coach) Josh Heupel is a great guy. I talked to him for a bit and he's a guy I felt I could talk to about anything. I also had a few buddies go there and they all loved it. I also heard that the campus is real nice and the tradition is great." The weekend after he visits Oklahoma he will be heading to Kansas for a spring game (April 12). The Jayhawks were the first school to offer Mossakowski in February. "I was real surprised by how well Kansas did last year," he said. "It was cool to see them jump out of the blue and be one of the top teams. "One of my best friends is a huge Kansas fan and he's always talking about them," he said. "It'll be interesting to see how they are able to follow it up next season." Mossakowski then heads to the Nebraska spring game on April 19. "I talked with coach (offensive coordinator) Shawn Watson and I like the energy of the new coaches there," he said. "They are all excited and pumped up and I've also heard the fans there are the best. It's seems like a real positive time for them now. They are heading in the right direction." Mossakowski also has to choose which sport he'd like to play. He's being recruited to play baseball (right field, .405 BA) and says he's not sure which sport he'll end up choosing. "I'm gonna play baseball this summer and we'll see how it goes," he said. "We'll see how baseball recruiting goes or how high I might be able to go in the draft. I'm not 100 percent sure which one I'll play yet." Mossakowski says he never followed a specific school as a youngster and is keeping all his options open. "I'm just gonna try and visit as many schools as I can," he said. "I'm just looking for that certain feeling from a school. It needs to feel like it fits. It can be a huge city or a small town. That doesn't matter to me. I want a program with great tradition and have chemistry with all the coaches. They need to be like family and be like a home away from home." He reports a 3.9 core GPA and says he is qualified, but it retaking the SAT in May.
