"I had two uncles (Bill and Joe Lukens) that played at Ohio State in the 70's and I grew up following them," Pat Muldoon said. "I like all the coaches at Ohio State and they just seem like down-to-earth people. I have a real good relationship with their defensive coordinator (Jim Heacock)." Muldoon's cousin is Ryan Lukens who is a junior linebacker at Ohio State as well.

Pat Muldoon, the 6-foot-4, 255-pound defensive end from St. Xavier High School in Cincinnati, Ohio, helped lead his team to a perfect 15-0 record and the state championship. Muldoon finished his junior season with 75 tackles, 12 sacks, two fumbles caused, two fumbles recovered and one interception.

"I'm fast off the ball and I have great balance," Muldoon said. "I play smart and I'm real hard-nosed. I'm also very discplined."

He says he can bench 325 pounds and squat 455 pounds.

"I'd like to be able to do better against double teams and get around the corner better on the pass rush," he said. "I'm lifting about six days a week and doing a lot of speed training too."

Muldoon claims to have approximately 25 scholarship offers, but denies a leader.

"I don't really have a top five," he said. "I'm looking at a lot of things. I'd like to decide early, but I know that if I want to give every school a fair shot I'll have to take some time and take my visits. The main things I'm looking for are academics, atmosphere, football team, fitting in and coaching staff."

While he denies a favorite, he has attended junior days at Ohio State, Cincinnati, Pittsburgh, Louisville and Michigan State. All of those schools have offered as well as Stanford, Wake Forest, Virginia Tech, Oklahoma State, North Carolina State, Kentucky, Vanderbilt, Maryland, Iowa, Purdue, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Northwestern, Indiana and Illinois.

In fact, Muldoon comes from a very athletic family as his dad (Phil Muldoon) played football at Ball State and his grandfather (also Phil Muldoon) played on the o-line at Louisville. "I liked the junior day at Louisville a lot," he said. "They really spend time with you and give you personal attention," he said. "The junior day was great and we all got to go to the basketball game and that was a lot of fun. Also there are like three guys from my high school that go there so I would know people there."

"The Pittsburgh Junior Day was nice too," he said. "I liked all the facilities, but I didn't really get a chance to talk to any of the coaches. I loved the environment there though.

"Michigan State was real good," he said. "The coaches are great and I got along well with the players there. I liked getting to tour the campus and the facilities."

The first school to offer Muldoon was local favorite Cincinnati. "They are only like 30 minutes away, but it's not a big factor for me," he said.

Next week Muldoon says he plans to visit Wisconsin and Iowa. "They both play real hard-nosed football and I can see myself fitting in well with them," he said. "That's my style of football."

Another school that Muldoon says he plans to visit is Stanford. "They have real good academics and I've heard the area there is really nice," he said. "I've never been to California, so I'm real interested to see what it's like."

Muldoon isn't sure if he's going to be attending any camps this summer.

He reports a 3.8 core GPA and a 1260 SAT (out of 1600).
