Los Flores (Calif.) Tesoro linebacker John Michael Davis, one of the top backers in a loaded California crop, got some good news on Monday.
"I got offered by New Mexico," said Davis. "Coach Tony White was who offered me. He wanted me to be his first offer. I really like him a lot."
Davis has the athleticism to play either linebacker or safety, but White made it clear what position they want him at.
"They like me as a linebacker," said Davis.
For Davis, it was the perfect remedy for a stressful time, as he patiently waited for his first offer.
"I was stressing out, so this is good," said Davis.
Aside from the Lobos, UCLA, Cal, Boise State and Colorado are all showing strong interest in him.
