Springfield (Pa.) Cardinal O’Hara quarterback Tom Savage held a press conference this afternoon at Cardinal O’Hara where he let his intentions known as to where he would be attending college.
During the press conference Savage announced that he would be attending Rutgers University where he will be playing for Greg Schiano and company. Savage represents the biggest quarterback coup that Schiano and his staff have landed during his tenure in Piscataway.
Savage held double-digit scholarship offers from schools across the country. In the end he narrowed it down to just four Rutgers, Louisville, Pittsburgh and Georgia. Louisville and Pittsburgh were not given much of a shot, so the smart money was on Rutgers and Georgia as the final two.
Savage could start a windfall for Rutgers as he is well connected with many of the top recruits that the Scarlet Knights are after including Aaron Hayward, Anthony LaLota and Gerald Hodges. Savage is third member of the Rutgers class of 2009 joining Mohamed Sanu (Monmouth Junction/NJ/South Brunswick) and Jamal Wilson (Brooklyn/NY/South Shore).
