Long Pulls the Trigger

Deon Long

Deon Long is in Morgantown and he is more than impressed with what he is seeing, so much so that he ran to see Bill Stewart and join the Mountaineers class of 2009.

Washington (D.C.) Dunbar wide receiver Deon Long is having a great trip to West Virginia and the defending Big East champions have landed another great offensive weapon.

"I'm lovin it Bob," Long told Scout.com at halftime of the Mountaineers Spring game. "I'm going to find Coach right now and tell him I want to be a Mountaineer."

Long eventually found Stewart and he made it all official.

"I like what I saw, I liked what I heard and I'm a Mountaineer," Long said. "I really liked the players and the vibe I got from them. The offense fits me and I think I can do well there."

Long was very impressed with the atmosphere and the fans in Morgantown.

"It was like a real game," Long stated. "One of the fans looked at me and asked if I was committing and he said my name.

"I have no idea who he was or how he knew me, but it was cool," Long continued. "I'm real happy with my decision. They have my major and they are going to be throwing the ball."

Long plans to major in veterinary medicine or graphic arts. He told us that Bill Stewart got a little excited upon hearing the news.

"He was real excited," Long said. "He hugged me like three times."

Long is the fourth known verbal for the Mountaineers joining Chris Snook, Logan Heastie and Tahj Boyd.
