Alabama Lineman Taking Visits
"I don't have any offers," said James Sandlin. "I am receiving interest from Boston College, Tennessee, Georgia, Nebraska, Alabama, Ole Miss, Mississippi State and even USC has sent me some mail." "I think Boston College is close to offering me. I took a visit up there this past weekend. I have also visited Alabama, Mississippi State, Ole Miss and Auburn. I took a trip up to UAB last year." Sandlin talked more about the visit to Chestnut Hill to visit the Eagles. "The visit to Boston College went very well," he said. "They had very few guys visiting, and I was the only defensive tackle. We toured the campus and went through the stadium. We ate with the coaches and got to spend some one-on-one time with them." "I really liked their defensive line coach [Jeff Comissiong]. Coach [Jeff] Jagodzinski personally invited me up there. The defensive line coach [Commissiong] said he likes most of the techniques I use. He said he watched my highlight tape and really enjoyed it." "I definitely like the coaching staff up there. They are really nice and personable." When asked favorites Sandlin replied, "My top schools would be Alabama, Auburn, Nebraska, Tennessee, Mississippi State and Boston College." Alabama: "Coach [Joe] Pendry is real nice. I saw a lot of good things at their practice. I really liked what coach [Bo] Davis was doing with the defensive line." Auburn: "They are really physical. They were busting heads when I went down there." Nebraska: "I haven't got to visit there. They invited me the same week as Boston College. I am going to go up there during the summer." Tennessee: "They are another team I need to go visit. They said they really liked what they saw on tape." Mississippi State: "I like the strength coach [Ben Pollard]. I also like coach [Louis] Campbell. I toured the facilities and stuff like that. Their weight room and locker room are really nice." The 6-foot-2, 273-pound prospect had a great junior campaign recording 112 tackles, 31 tackles for loss, seven sacks, 14 quarterback knockdowns, 29 hurries resulting in eight interceptions, nine forced fumbles, five fumble recoveries, two tipped passes and one safety. "I am definitely best at stopping the run," Sandlin said. "I use my hands really quick to come off the ball and get in the backfield. I am really good at pass rushing the quarterback. I would like to just continue to get better." "I was first playing center. Clemson and Auburn were recruiting me in the beginning as a center. I have only played defensive tackle one year. Right now I am mainly being recruited as nose guard."
