Erial, N.J., native Eric Loper excels at both wide receiver and cornerback at the high school level, but thinks he’ll be sticking to the defensive side of the ball at the collegiate level. He’s yet to receive his first scholarship offer, however he does have several interested schools and ran through the list with us in a recent interview.

Eric Loper, a 6-foot-1, 190-pound cornerback from Timber Creek Regional High School had a very productive season on both sides of the ball last season, making 51 tackles, intercepting six passes and breaking up six more on the defensive side of the ball. On offense he caught 27 passes for 324 yards and six touchdowns. Right now five schools are recruiting him the hardest which he explained to us.

“Coach Darrell Wilson from Iowa came by the school and while I only got to talk to him briefly he made a good impression,” Loper said. “He wants me to come up there and play safety for them. I’ve read up a bit on them and found that they offer good academics, but I really want to get out there and learn more.”

“Coach (Bob) Fraser from Rutgers came into the school and I’ve talked to him two or three times before,” Loper stated. “He wants me to come up for junior day and wanted me at the spring game. I like their facilities a lot and the weight room is great. I love the program and it would be great to go there.”

Boise State is another school I’d love to get out to,” Loper added. “They’re my favorite school and I have a ton of fun watching Ian Johnson and that offense. Their defense is really creative too and I dig that blue turf. They’ve sent me a few letters, but I really want to hear more from them.”

Temple and Villanova are also showing Loper interest and have visited. As a junior he was voted first-team All-Conference at defensive back.
