Corona (Calif.) Centennial receiver Ricky Marvray (5-11.5, 184) is getting it done in the classroom and this spring, he’s been getting it done with the football in his hands just like in the fall.

Marvray had a good day on Sunday at the Los Angeles Nike Camp and now he’s waiting patiently for the first offer to come his way.

“I felt I did really good at the camp and I worked the hardest I’ve worked,” said Marvray. “It was important for me step up there.”

Marvray had been the #2 receiver for the Huskies largely ground-dominant offense, yet still had 33 receptions for 753 yards and nine touchdowns en route to helping the Huskies to the CIF-SS Inland Division title and a runner-up berth in the CIF State D-I Championship Game.

But with Ryan Bass, Matt Scott and Marcel Posey gone, Marvray will be one of the leaders of the Huskies offense. And he’s hoping that a big year will piggyback his strong spring and make more colleges aware of him.

As it is, a few are already showing interest in him.

San Diego State, Washington, Oregon, Notre Dame and UCLA are some of the schools I’m interested in,” said Marvray. “Arizona State, I talked to their coach in person. Three of my teammates (Brandon Magee, Shelly Lyons and Bass) are going there. I want to check their academic background and the campus but absolutely I would love to go there, especially with teammates there.”

Marvray has also gone to San Diego State for the Aztecs’ Junior Day and said it went well. “The receivers coach really liked me a lot and he gave me the impression that they might offer,” said Marvray.

Marvray is hoping that UCLA gets involved, as the Bruins were his childhood favorite.

“Growing up, my whole family was die-hard Bruins. Ever since I was a little kid, I’ve been a die-hard Bruin. I sent them my highlight tape so it’s in the process of picking up with them,” said Marvray.

Washington State is also showing interest in Marvray, though the Cougars staff may see the secondary as his best spot.

“The Washington State coaches said they might want me to play DB,” said Marvray. “I’m fine with that, I just want to go to college and play. My sophomore year I started at safety, but offense is where I want to play.”

Marvray said he’s hoping to take a leadership role with the Huskies offense this year, and wouldn’t mind being the focal point of the offense.

“I would like to be the guy, but I will do whatever I can to help my team win, if that’s catching touchdowns, blocking for Arthur Burns, I’ll focus on that,” said Marvray.

An excellent student, Marvray is taking a close look at any potential suitors’ academics before going any further.

“I have to see what they can offer me for my education first before they offer me on the field. Secondly, the style of offense is important. I don’t want go where they run the ball primarily. Then thirdly, location, but it doesn’t even matter,” said Marvray.

With plenty of teammates having gone through the process, Marvray is using their advice.

“I got some advice from Vontaze Burfict (the USC commit who is Marvray’s teammate) and he said to weigh your options, really weigh them all out. He committed early, but he said do what is best for you,” said Marvray.

Marvray said his family is open with him going wherever he’s most comfortable.

“They want me happy whatever the decision, if I do go out of state or not,” said Marvray. “They said wherever I go they will miss me.”

Academically, Marvray has a 3.5 GPA.
