Archbishop Carroll High School signal caller Luke Wischnowski snagged his first offer this week when Army came into school. The 6-foot-2, 195-pound quarterback took a visit to West Point a few weeks ago to see what they had to offer and is also hearing from a number of other schools, including the Ivy Leagues. “I got an offer from Army,” Wischnowski said. “I visited a few weeks ago and absolutely love it there. That type of academic experience really would give me great opportunities after college because West Point is such a prestigious school. Everything was great there and the campus was beautiful. I really liked the coaching staff a lot and got to meet Caleb Campbell while I was there who got drafted by the Detroit Lions this weekend.” We asked Wischnowski what he thought about the service commitment involved. “Well, I think the new regulations are pretty cool that allow players who get drafted to serve their country as a recruiter,” Wischnowski explained. “I think whether you’re here at home or over in Iraq you’re still doing a great service to your country and that is something that I am definitely all about.” Right now the young quarterback is also getting interest from schools like Cornell and Delaware. He also talked a bit about Temple, the hometown program. “Temple is getting some great local talent in there and I think they are definitely on the right track. My teammate Geoffrey Prather is going there and he’s just a great athlete. I liked it a lot down there and they run really intense practices which I think is important. The staff is great because they really push you to your potential.” As a junior, Wischnowski completed 68 of 122 passes for 1200 yards, 10 touchdowns and six interceptions. He also carried the ball 153 times for 730 yards and nine touchdowns. He was voted second-team All-League, honorable mention All-County, honorable mention All-City and first-team All Main-Line. He reports a 4.0 core GPA and scored a 1780 on his three-part SAT. |
