First Offer Comes Thursday for Grassa

Cambridge, Mass., product Steven Grassa is being recruited on many different levels right now and just picked up his first written scholarship offer from one of the service academies in Army on Thursday. We caught up with him to see what else has been happening in his recruiting and found that he’s also visited Boston College.

Steven Grassa, a 5-foot-11, 192-pound safety from Buckingham Browne Nichols School in Massachusetts grabbed his first offer this morning when the coaching staff from Army stopped by his school to meet with him. He talked to Scout.com Thursday afternoon about that offer and what other interest he’s getting.

“Army came in and met with me this morning and I now have a scholarship offer from them,” Grassa said. “I am definitely interested in them, but I want to take some time to learn more about it. They talked to me a lot about the facilities and tradition there and think I would fit in well. They want me to play safety for them and it just feels great to get my first offer from such a prestigious school.”

“I’ve been hearing from a lot of Ivy League programs like Harvard, Brown, Penn and Columbia lately,” Grassa explained. “I also visited Boston College recently and took in a spring practice which I liked a lot. The coaches were all very down to earth and personable and the education I would receive there is a big factor for me. They’re also close to home and are a great football program, so there isn’t anything not to like.” Grassa runs a 4.55 40-yard dash, 4.19 short shuttle, has a 32-inch vertical leap and a 9-foot-3 broad jump. He can do 26 reps of 185 pounds on the bench press.

He carries a 3.4 core GPA and scored an 1800 on his SAT in December of 2007.
