Pittsford, N.Y., native Matt Landry could line up at either tight end or defensive end at the collegiate level and is being recruited accordingly so far. He was productive on both sides of the ball for his high school team last year and is already being recruited by just about every school in the Ivy League as well as a number of FBS programs.

Matt Landry is still filling out at 6-foot-3.5, 230 pounds, however he brings good speed to the table with a 4.65 40-yard dash and could end up playing tight end or defensive end at the next level. The Pittsford High School athlete has been hearing from plenty of schools already which he explained to Scout.com on Monday.

“Right now most of my mail comes from schools like Purdue, Pittsburgh, Syracuse, Connecticut, Buffalo, Akron, Vanderbilt, Duke, Michigan State and Stanford,” Landry said. “I also hear from just about every single Ivy League schools and am seriously considering that route as well.”

Landry has been able to take advantage of some spare time and visit to programs already.

“I’ve been to two or three football games at Syracuse, one basketball game and I went to a spring practice too,” Landry explained. “Coach (Chris) Wiesehan came to the school and was a good guy. He knows my family really well and they are starting to get comfortable with me. I like the location of the school, the coaching staff is very nice and I think I could help them rebuild that program. I believe they’re recruiting me as a tight end and my coach says he thinks they’ll offer if I light it up at camp.”

“I was at Connecticut for their spring game and they already have a tight end from my school there in Yianni Apostolakos,” Landry said. “They have really nice facilities and it looks like their program is really coming around. The coaching staff seems really nice and the players really looked like they were having a lot of fun when I was there.”

Landry caught 10 passes for 161 yards and five touchdowns as a junior. On defense, he made 65 tackles, had 23 tackles for loss, 12 sacks, two fumble recoveries and deflected two passes. He was named first-team All-County and honorable mention All-Greater Rochester.

He carries a 94-percent GPA, scored a 1630 on his SAT, bench pressed 275 pounds and squats 375 pounds.
