Cade Ready for Breakout Season
A solid 5'10, 200-lbs, Royal Oak Shrine RB Anthony Cade passes the eyeball test. He is much more than an impressive frame though, last season he rushed for 979 yards and 13 touchdowns despite only having 89 carries. "My coach believes in playing the seniors," he explained, "so I shared the ball and I had just transferred to the school." This season, Cade will be the senior and will carry the bulk of the offense for Shrine. A hard worker, he has been preparing himself in the weight room and his power is one of his biggest assets. "My ability to break tackles is one of my strengths," he said, "I am stronger than most people on the field. I bench 310-lbs and my max squat is 400. Before next season I want to work more on my footwork and I want to get faster." Cade has already been hearing from some colleges. Indiana, Central Michigan, Eastern Michigan, Toledo, Bowling Green and Ball State have been showing the most interest and he has had a chance to take visits to a couple of those schools. "The atmosphere at Toledo was nice," he reported, "everything was right there, it was nice, small and compact. Central Michigan, now that was state of that art. That was one school that really caught my attention. I really liked the library there." It is atypical to hear a recruit mention the library as one of his favorite parts of a visit, but Cade is a well rounded individual who is concentrating on more than just football. "Immediate playing time would be nice," he said, "but I'm looking more for great academics and a good environment." This summer, Cade will attend summer camps at Central Michigan, Eastern Michigan, Ball State and Bowling Green.
